That time of year again...

That time of year again... Oh how I love Halloween. And for many reasons too. First, it allows me to delve completely into my darkside without having the neighbors ask too many questions. I become more accepted in the world and don't get weird looks from the masses when I drop some morbid shit on them. More so, others like me come out of the woodwork. Yay! More freaks and weirdos that I can associate with.

Ever since I was I VERY young child, I dug Halloween and it was not for the candy either. Around August I would start drawing pictures of jack-o-lanterns when everybody else was gearing up to go back to school. My dad was teaching me how to make phony tombstones out of cardboard. My family knew how dark I was and just added to my darkness by getting me prosthetic make up kits for Halloween and life like model skulls for Christmas. I still have one of them now some 30 years later. I eventually made a reaper out of some old clothes while in High School and kept it until about the late nineties. Man I miss Fred. Once I was old enough to know what Halloween was all about and it's history, I have always had dark, creepy and scary costumes and felt Halloween should kept that way. None of that cute crap. The last cute costume I had was Mickey Mouse when I was about 4 years old. I never looked back.

Let's get back on track. Like I said, Halloween allows me to explore my darkside. I also love watching scary movies from the bad ones to the great ones. I used to watch scary movies with my dad every Friday night. My first one was the original 1931 Dracula with Bela Legosi when I was 5 years old. Great stuff. My mom got me into the Hammer stuff with Chris Lee...also great stuff. My biggest joy will be to hang out with my kids on late nights and let them experience the same movies I watched growing up. I even got my daughter embracing the traditional scary costumes. Last year she was a witch and this year she will be a skeleton. Way cool.

What's even cooler now about Halloween is that I celebrate my wedding anniversary on 10/31. That date was picked purely by accident but it seems that it was probably my destiny. In any case, not only do I enjoy Halloween, so does Viki and she allows me to indulge on my obsession with the holiday. Last year was the first year in MANY that I was able to go completely nuts in the front yard. I will post some pictures what I did soon. Last year, I had kids crying and refusing to even to come to the door. If they only made it to the door...I give out the good candy.

Well, it is almost 6am and I need to crawl into my coffin before the sun rises...
